Micro Ostrich Spey Plumes
These are the feathers that Mikael Frödin uses a lot on his Butterfly flies. They are perfect for both front hackles and in the wing of sea trout and salmon flies. Spey plumes are beautiful smaller ostrich feathers. These are widely used as hackles on salmon flies. Mikael Frödin often uses these feathers for several of his well-known patterns. The feathers add a very nice effect to the flies. They provide volume to the flies and have a lively movement in the water. These feathers are also extensively used on salmon and steelhead flies, and spey plumes are excellent for intruder flies. Spey plumes would also work wonderfully as front hackle on large sculpin flies for the Karup and Vejle rivers. They are a good and fuller alternative to marabou hackles.
