What kind of lures should you use for sea trout?

You need to use a flash that resembles the food items on the square in a color combination that suits the conditions..

There is no one lure that can be pointed to as being the sea trout lure you should use at all times, but there are some lures that have proven their worth by catching countless large sea trout.

It could be flashes like:

Choose sea trout lures based on the conditions

The conditions are crucial for your choice of sea trout lure. There is a big difference between whether the water is cold or warm, whether the sun is high or cloudy, whether the water is calm or whether you have to fight the waves.

Many sea trout lures are designed for specific conditions. For example, several of the popular sandeel wobblers are made with a relatively low density, which means that they go high in the water when spun at a normal pace - if you increase the speed too much, they will jump on the surface. Other lures are made with a higher density and with a different weight distribution, which means that they are made specifically to be spun at a high pace. These are for example the Sømmet and Crazy Cuda from Sixty lures.

Blink for sea troutTypically imitates a prey fish that the trout regularly pounce on. This can be sandeel, herring, gobies, sprats or even prey such as bristle worms.

What is the best lure for sea trout?

The best lure for sea trout is the lure that best matches the conditions.

What color lure is best for sea trout?

Many anglers believe that motor oil is the best color for a sea trout lure - including us.

Motor oil can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the slightly fluorescent color usually has a fantastic ability to lure sea trout into the bite.

How much should a sea trout lure weigh?

A sea trout lure to the fjord typically weighs between 6 and 14 grams, while a sea trout lure to the outer coast typically weighs between 14 and 25 grams.

The conditions determine what is appropriate. High waves and strong currents often require heavier flashes, while calm conditions and shallow reefs typically require a lighter flash.

Remember that coastal wobblers that have "air in their backs" always fish high. This means that a "solid" lure will always go further down, even if it is 10 grams lighter - it is the density that determines the fishing depth of your sea trout lure, not the weight. However, the weight can help you maintain contact with your bait, at a long distance and in more turbulent conditions.

Sea trout blink - the best ones vary

There is not yet a wink that always outshines everything else (that would also be boring).
But our absolute best tip when choosing sea trout bait is: to have many variations.

How big are the lures for sea trout?

Sea trout lures can easily be large, as they are predatory fish that like to pounce on fairly large prey fish. "big fish eat small fish", as many inveterate coastal fishermen say. You don't necessarily have to think too much about the size, as even a 12 cm long lure can catch the smallest trout in the shoal, while a 4 cm lure can also catch the largest in the shoal. You need to pay attention to the density of your sea trout lures. It is the density that determines whether they can be fished over shallow reefs, or reach a depth of 4 meters.
