What is a switch rod?
A switch rod is a fly rod that has the best qualities from both a one-handed and a two-handed fly rod .
The name comes from the fact that it is used alternately in the two ways. Therefore, the length of a switch fly rod is typically also an intermediate length.
Often 11 or 12 feet.
In Denmark, they are ideal for fishing in salmon streams , especially where the watercourses are small or medium-sized.
For example Storåen, Varde å and the upper Skjern å, but also good in Karup å.
Perfect fly rod for those who have back or elbow pain
It can be tiring to fish a whole day on the coast, but with a switch fly rod, you can spare your back and elbow.
We have made an entire video guide about two-handed and switch rods on the coast .
Matches your other gear
The casting weight of the fly lines you will use should match the gear you already have for the coast or river.
We recommend using a lightweight Skagit shooting head , as it really makes your fishing easy and versatile.
We at Nordic Anglers are always available by email and by phone, and will guide you in choosing your new switch fly rod.
