How to get started fishing for pike
Fishing for pike can be done quite simply. This means that with relatively simple methods and without the most advanced gear, you can start fishing for pike without it having to become a science.
If you want to go all-in, pike is a good species to do it with, as there are incredibly large amounts of gear and techniques that can be refined for the rest of your fishing life.
Pike fishing season
The pike season is divided into two parts. One season is for real throughout the month of May. It's right after the pike are protected, and here they are really in the thick of it. In the month of May and throughout the summer, fishing with poppers is really cool.
During the warm months, pike are quite happy to pounce on larger prey on the surface, which provides extremely good takes and great experiences.
The second real season for pike fishing begins when the cold weather sets in in September/October and extends throughout the winter.
Here you will often find pike on the slopes of the lake, and gear that can be fished a little deeper is often the way forward.

Pike tackle
Fishing for pike often makes you want to fish with large pike tackle. That's why it's important to choose a fishing rod that can handle some weight. Pike tackle is ungrateful in the sense that the very large Jerkbaits, Gliders and rigs for baitfish can easily weigh 80-100 grams. If you use your regular fishing rod, you can fish with pike tackle at the lighter end of the scale.
