High quality fly reels – for beginners and experienced anglers

INour range of fly reelsWe have something for both the beginner and the experienced fisherman. Here at Nordic Anglers we can offer a large and varied product range, which benefits you as a customer. No matter what fishing reel you are looking for, you can be sure to find it here.

The fly reel must be adjusted to your rod, which provides the most optimal conditions and the best conditions for a successful fishing trip. If you are in doubt about how to adjust the fly reel correctly, contact us - and we will help you achieve your goal.

In addition to fly reels, we can of course also offer everything else you need for your fly fishing. This includes, among other things:fly rodsandfly lines. Maybe you're even good at tying your own flies? Then we also haveall the bindingsfor this.

The main characteristics of the fly reel

A fly reel has a lot of features, and it is extremely important that it functions optimally, as this will provide the best conditions for successful fishing. Below we have outlined some of the fishing reel's features that are important to take into account.

A good brake: A fly reel should be equipped with a good brake. This ensures that you can always land the fish.

A good brake is one where it is easy to adjust the resistance and where this is added evenly during the fight.

Flywheel weight:The weight of the fly reel is not completely unimportant. For example, if your fly reel is too heavy for the rod, it will affect comfort and it can be very hard to stand with the rod for several hours in line. If you already know that you will primarily use your fly reel for long fishing trips, then we would recommend that you choose a light one.

When you click on each individual fly reel in our range, you can find out the reel's specifications and gain insight into whether the reel suits your fishing needs.

How to choose the right fly reel

Are you unsure about which fly reel to choose? Then read on below, where we will guide you in the best way possible, so that you choose the correct fly reel. You are of course always welcome to contact our competent customer service, who is ready with the right guidance.

Fly reels differ from classic fishing reels. A standard reel is used to reel in the line. However, with a fly reel, the line is taken in by hand, and therefore the primary function of the fly reel is to store the line. However, you may still end up having to fight on the reel when a larger fish takes the fly, and this is where the aforementioned good brake is necessary.

• Fly reel for the coast: When fishing along the coast, we recommend a relatively large fly reel in class 5-7. It may also be a good idea to choose a fly reel for coastal fishing that is made of stainless metal parts, as the salt can otherwise wear down the materials over time. Proper maintenance is also important here, which we will discuss in more detail in the section below.

• Fly reel for river fishing: For general river fishing, a class 5-8 fly reel will probably be very suitable. This is because it has a relatively even drag that can hold most fish.

• Fly reel for salmon fishing: When you need to bring a salmon ashore, it may require a little extra effort. That's why you should choose a reel in one of the relatively high classes. Here we would recommend a fly reel in classes 7-10.

Waterworks Lamson makes fantastic quality products, but the sizing system on their wheels may require some explanation:

The size '-3+' means it fits a rod and fly line in classes 2 to 4

All grade 3 minus 1 or + 1

Size '-5+' therefore fits lines and rods from class 4 to 6.

Size '-7+' for lines and rods from class 6 to 8

What is the best fly reel?

The best fly reel is the one that fits your rod and line.

There is no one fly reel that is best for everything. There is a huge difference between fishing in the tropics for GT or bonefish, or sneaking around a small stream in search of a small brown trout. If you are new to fly fishing, we have made abeginner's guide, which explains tackle selection in depth.

We are proud of the brands we have in the store, as we believe they are the best fly reels on the market, and we are always ready to advise you on what suits you and your fishing best. Stop by our showroom, or give us a call on 40384081 - we will help you in any way we can.

Maintaining your fly reel

We value our customers' satisfaction very highly, and therefore we have naturally only purchased fly reels that are of good quality. Therefore, you can always count on your new fly reel to last for many years to come. The reel will probably become your constant companion for the many next trips with the fly rod.

But there are of course some things that you can do yourself to increase the durability of your reel. We recommend that you always dry your reel after the end of your fishing trip. However, be careful not to wash it too thoroughly, as this can wear down the natural oil and grease present in the various parts and joints of the fishing reel. Therefore, please wipe your fishing reel gently with a damp cloth and let it dry completely before packing it back up.

It can also be useful to give the fly reel a little oil from time to time. You can give the handle, the side bearings and the spool shaft a little oil. This can be done every time the fly reel is going to have a longer winter break. Make sure to remove all salt and dirt so that it does not penetrate the reel and reduce its quality over time.

NOTE: don't be afraid to take your fly reel into salt water!

Whether you have a lot of experience with fly fishing or not, it can be difficult to decide which fly reel to press "buy" on. That's why we have also equipped our many different reels with a detailed product description, which can make you smarter about your choice of fly reel.

If you still have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We are always ready to help. Also, keep an eye on our social media, where we regularly update with exciting news. You can click in and follow us on bothInstagram, facebookandYouTube, where we regularly share educational videos about fly fishing.
