What is a braided line?
Braided line, as the name suggests, is many "strands" that are braided together to create a stronger line.
Braided lines were created as an alternative to nylon lines, as these can often stretch, which is not good for hooking if the fish moves away. In addition, braided lines have a sensationally high breaking strength compared to other lines.
Is braided line good?
Yes, we see braided line as a must for Danish spinning fishing, as it is the best type of line for coastal fishing!
We could never dream of fishing on the coast without having a good braided line on our reel. With unrivaled casting properties and good abilities when it comes to hooking fish on the coast, there is no denying that braided lines are not just good, they are fantastic.
What thickness braided line?
You should use a braided line between 0.10 and 0.15 for coastal fishing.That's what we use ourselves, and only if we fish with UL gear do we go down in thickness - never above 0.15.
A 0.15 braided line can handle anything you can hook in Denmark, and if you choose a thicker line, in our opinion it will only affect the feel of the fishing.
It is also more than ample for salmon fishing.
Best braided line for sea trout
The best braided line for sea trout depends on the weight of the bait. Typically we found that the best braided line for sea trout has a thickness of between 0.12 and 0.14, as it provides long casts, good feel and excellent hooking.
Is braided line a necessity?
In general, braided lines are preferable in situations where strength and sensitivity are crucial. In addition to coastal fishing, it can also be used for, for example, pike fishing. A braided line can also be used to advantage in situations where fishing is done with heavy gear or in places with many obstacles in the water, as the durability of the braided line makes it more resistant to stones, branches and the like.
In short, with a braided line you get a strong and reliable fishing line that has both high wear resistance and resilience as well as sharp precision.
Good advice when using braided lines
Although we think braided lines are fantastic, especially for coastal fishing, there are still some precautions you should take when using braided lines. If tangles occur in the braided line, it can be difficult to untangle them due to the fine threads of the line. That's why we recommend that you always bring an extra spool of line with you when you use braided lines and are on a fishing trip. It's annoying to stand and spend a lot of time fixing a tangled line when you're out fishing. Here it's much easier and faster to just use a new spool, so you can quickly resume fishing. And then the tangles have to wait until later.
Another good tip when using braided lines is to use knots that are specifically designed for braided lines, such as the Palomar knot. The reason for this is that the smooth surface of braided lines can cause some knots to come loose. Therefore, make sure to use a knot type that is safe and reliable for braided lines.
