These rooster saddles are really good for coastal flies and body hackles on river and salmon flies. The individual feathers are beautiful and vivid in color and often long enough to tie multiple flies from the same feather. Saddle feathers also often have the same length of hackle fibers on a significant portion of the feather, creating beautiful uniform flies. Nordicanglers has a wide selection of rooster necks for all the fly types most commonly used in Denmark. We have saddles from several manufacturers, but we would like to highlight the Whiting products, which are always in a class of their own. All in all, rooster saddles are a great choice for a standard hackle for all flies that have a body/palmer hackle, such as Magnus, Frede, Slagteren, Cutthroat Kutling, as well as sea trout and salmon flies for Norway and Skjern. These hackles would also be great on flies like Udsokken, Astrid, and Brenda.
