Squirrel skin has soft, short hair in excellent colors for coastal flies. This material is absolutely the best for small zonker flies, such as imitations of sandeel and especially sticklebacks. Squirrel zonker is truly a fantastic zonker material, and we use it extensively ourselves, including for salmon and sea trout flies in rivers. Additionally, it's possible to purchase it both as whole skins and as pre-cut zonker strips. Silver Tip (squirrel tail) is a fine material for hair flies for salmon and sea trout, widely used for flies meant for strong currents like rivers, and flies like the Rusty Rat often use squirrel. The quality of these hairs is really good. They are finely dyed and have luxurious, very soft hair.
