Winston Fly Rods
At Winston, they refuse to compromise and have a true passion for doing things the right way. Since 1929, Winston has been making not only the most innovative fly rods, but also the most beautiful.
Holding a Winston means holding a rod with a flawless finish, precisely aligned guides, a perfectly crafted grip and a reel seat made from the finest components. Fish with one and you will experience superior rod performance, as well as the remarkable feel that comes from a rod that is light, balanced and elegant. We know anglers have many fly rods to choose from, but when the goal is to own the finest, there can only be one.
We pride ourselves on our rod finish being the best in the industry. "Winston Green" stands for quality, beauty and impeccable performance. We use a meticulous and time-consuming multi-step hand-crafted process that requires multiple green and clear protective coats to get it just right. We perform our rod finishing in a secret room where no outsiders come, ensuring that Winston is and remains one of a kind. The resulting finish not only provides a spectacularly beautiful, cosmetically translucent green look, but also provides essential impact protection for the boron and carbon fiber materials in the rod. Once the rod is ready and has passed numerous quality inspections, each section of every Winston rod is hand-inscribe with rod series information, rod length and line weight, and serial number. It's our way of signing a finished work of art right before we ship it to you.

Winston makes rods because the people at Winston love to fish. That's the secret. When Winston develops a new fly rod line, they don't try to figure out what will sell, Winston pushes themselves to come up with something better that we want to use. The design process is based on creating rods that excel in performing in specific situations. We're lucky to have friends who love engineering as much as we love fishing. That shared knowledge keeps us on the cutting edge of technology. Hundreds of rolled prototypes later, stress tests and late-night tweaks - the moment of truth comes on the water. Once the "Winston feel" shows, we know we have a rod worthy of our logo and hand lettering.
