Christoffer's 3 tips for fishing in Mariager Fjord
Always introduce the fish to something new.
There are many fish in the fjord, and you will find that you run into large schools of fish, especially in the colder months. Here it is important to take some breaks and give the fish a rest. When the break is over, it can often pay off to introduce the fish to new sea trout lures .
There is no best place or best bait.
The spots and the fish are many. They are like pearls on a string, which is why we love fishing in Mariager Fjord so much. It almost always doesn't matter whether you go right or left, you should be able to find fish. So don't be too tempted by Facebook posts where fish have been caught in a particular spot.
Although there is no bait that beats everything else, coastal wobblers with low density are excellent in the fjord, as they can fish over the very shallow mussel banks and hold long spin stops.
Baits like the Sandy inline and the Sixty lures suppository are fantastic.
Remember the easy stuff
The vast majority of fish in Mariager Fjord are of a modest size. In addition, they are almost always found right inland. The baits you use can easily be used on a light rod and you will have an easier time fishing all day + more fun fighting and landing the fish you catch, it's a pure win-win.

Daniel's 3 tips for Mariager Fjord
Fish varied.
Some days a small slow fly is all that works, but other days a flame fished with the rod under your arm may be the best. Try it out and fish variedly.
Remember the foam beetles.
There can be some exceptionally good scum fishing in the fjord all year round. I have friends who have caught fish on the surface in January. So remember the foam beetles
Remember to fish the shallow water before you wade out.
There are many fish in the very shallows in Mariager and therefore always remember to fish the water before you wade in it. Can be parallel to the coast and also towards land in between if you have come far out. The fish often go to shallower water than you expect
The car is important in Mariager Fjord
Since the fjord consists of so many good fishing spots, it is important not to see everything. too hot in one place.
Therefore, if you don't catch something quickly, or there are many others in the square, then it's time to move on.
Especially when you fish in spring and autumn, the fish come in large schools. If they are in the area, you will notice it.
Don't worry, there is always a place you can go undisturbed, despite the many anglers.

Indispensable gear for Mariager Fjord
One of the most important things to have for fishing in Mariager Fjord is a floating fly line .
The entire summer period offers a fantastic exciting foam beetle fishing , which some days can be reminiscent of fishing in a Swedish forest lake.
The trout may find themselves selectively taking the beetles that blow out onto the water surface.
This does not mean that this line is always the obvious choice, in fact we are divided here at Nordic Anglers.
Some always prefer the floating line, while others almost always fish with a intermediate fly line .
If you are going to fish with dry flies, the choice is obvious, but otherwise the decisive factor is space and conditions.
In many of the places where you fish beyond a deeper channel, a slightly sinking line will be preferable, while places with shallow reefs often require a floating line.
It is not necessary to use heavy equipment
Many of the sea trout you catch in Mariager Fjord are quite small, often between 30 and 40 centimeters.
In some periods, however, there are more fish between 45 and 55 centimeters, but there are far between the really big ones.
Since the fish typically are not large, go close to shore and the flies are light, then fly rods in the light classes are an obvious choice.
We ourselves use #4 rods on the calmer days and #6 fly rods on the days when the wind has more grip.
We come here with a few good suggestions, on obvious fly rods for fishing in Mariager Fjord.

Here we will describe some of the places that you won't otherwise find much information about.
Ørnedals Bay - parking
Hey, Ørnedalsbugten is a well-known place, so why are we including it?
We do this because large parts of this space are often overlooked.
Many people drive all the way to the bottom and fish 3-400 meters, while the western part of Ørnedals is often overlooked.
At the western end, the water is lower inland, and you can cast directly over a channel that runs about 20 meters from shore.
This can be very toxic, almost all year round, but especially in spring and autumn.
Start fishing on the east side of the semi-annual protection and fish the first cove. You won't regret it.
This space can also offer an excellent foam beetle fishing .
Stinesminde west - Parking
West of Stinesminde and east of Høllet, there is a nice coastal site, with parking right down to the water.
Here you fish from the parking lot and towards the pond. Remember to cast from shore before you start wading, the fish can be completely under the ground.
You will find quite deep water, right under the land and it is important to take some casts in the wading direction.
Often you will encounter fish at the lure that comes after 100 meters of fishing.
The spot can be very rewarding all year round, but especially in spring and late autumn this spot can hold many fish.
NOTE: you are fishing between 2 protected areas, and it is therefore important to keep an eye on how far you are allowed to go, on both sides.
Havno - Parking
Havnø is a very well-known fishing spot in Mariager Fjord among locals.
Especially in the spring, many people go fishing here to find swarms of bristle worms and the sea trout that hunt them.
You can either park at the mill or out by the pier.
If you stay at the Mill, you will start your fishing in a relatively shallow cove, where the water warms up quickly. Out by the "pier" you can wade quite close to the shipping channel, and cast out into deep water.
It is precisely this shipping channel that also attracts many anglers to hunt garfish.
