What color is best for sea trout?

If we had to choose only one color, it would be white.

It is a "color" that works all year round, and has already been a big hit for many, many years.

But actually, it's a question we've thought about a lot, a lot.
That's why we've also made a little video about it:

If the fish are really into the bite, the color of your lure or fly may be secondary, but presenting the fish with different things is often the deciding factor.

Sea trout are controlled by the water

It may sound silly, but sea trout are really controlled by the water they are in.

The body temperature of sea trout is the same as the surrounding water, which means that the weather has an incredibly large influence on the fish's desire to eat. And it is feeding sea trout that we really concentrate on as coastal fishermen.

Therefore, there are often different colors that are good at different times.

The best colors for sea trout in winter

In winter, white and pink are probably the best colors.

Best color for sea trout
In winter we often see sea trout flashing in the shades of white and pink, catching out much else. A hypothesis could be that these are also the colors that large parts of the Danish coastal fishermen start fishing with when the night frost really hits us. We ourselves also thought that red/black is a fantastic combo for sluggish fish.

What colors are so good in spring?

In the spring, red/black remains one of our favorite color combinations for sea trout. The fish may still be sluggish, but they are finding more and more food along the coasts.
The fact that there is more food to find often means that we choose transparent or neutral colors, as the fish like to pounce on something that resembles their natural food items. At this time, the fish often follow bright colors, but only bite when presented with something neutral.
